Notawisseling tussen de Regering van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Regering van het Gemenebest der Bahamas inzake de afschaffing van de visumplicht

With reference to previous consultations the Royal Netherlands Embassy presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and has the honour to propose that the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the reciprocal abolition of visas between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, including certain British overseas dependant territories, constituted by the Exchange of Notes of 1 April 1960, the application of which was extended to the Netherlands Antilles on 30 November 1965 by means of a written notification in accordance with paragraph 9 of said Agreement, shall be applied in respect of entry of nationals of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, resident in the Netherlands Antilles or in Aruba, into the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and of Bahamian nationals into the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

If this proposal is acceptable to the Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas the Embassy further proposes that this Note and the affirmative reply thereto from the Ministry shall constitute an Agreement to this effect between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas which is, as concerns the Kingdom of the Netherlands, valid for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba only and which shall enter into force on the date on which both Governments have notified each other in writing that the procedures constitutionally required therefor in their respective countries have been complied with.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas the assurance of its highest consideration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas presents its compliments to the Royal Netherlands Embassy and has the honour to acknowledge receipt of the Embassy's Note No. 700 of 28 March, 1989 which reads as follows:

In reply the Ministry has the honour to inform the Embassy that the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas accepts the proposal of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, set out in the Embassy's Note.

The Ministry has the honour further to inform the Embassy that it agrees that the Embassy's Note and this Note shall constitute an agreement to this effect between the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas which is, as concerns the Kingdom of the Netherlands valid for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba only and which shall enter into force on the date on which both Government have notified each other in writing that the procedures constitutionally required therefore in their respective countries have been complied with.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Royal Netherlands Embassy the assurances of its highest consideration.

Onder verwijzing naar voorafgaande consultaties biedt de Ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden haar complimenten aan aan het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken van het Gemenebest der Bahamas en heeft de eer voor te stellen dat de overeenkomst tussen de Regering van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Regering van het Verenigd Koninkrijk van Groot-Brittannië en Noord-Ierland inzake de wederzijdse afschaffing van visa tussen Nederland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk, met inbegrip van bepaalde Britse afhankelijke overzeese gebieden, vastgelegd in de Notawisseling van 1 april 1960, waarvan de toepassing was uitgebreid tot de Nederlandse Antillen op 30 november 1965 middels een schriftelijke kennisgeving in overeenstemming met paragraaf 9 van genoemde overeenkomst, zal worden toegepast met betrekking tot de toelating van onderdanen van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, woonachtig in de Nederlandse Antillen of in Aruba, in het Gemenebest der Bahamas en van onderdanen van de Bahamas in de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba.

Indien dit voorstel aanvaardbaar is voor de Regering van het Gemenebest der Bahamas, stelt de Ambassade voorts voor dat deze Nota en het bevestigend antwoord daarop van het Ministerie een daartoe strekkende overeenkomst zullen vormen tussen de Regering van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Regering van het Gemenebest der Bahamas welke, wat het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden betreft, uitsluitend geldt voor de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba en welke in werking zal treden op de datum waarop beide Regeringen elkaar schriftelijk in kennis hebben gesteld dat de daarvoor constitutioneel vereiste procedures in hun onderscheiden landen zijn vervuld.

De Ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden maakt van deze gelegenheid gebruik om het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken van het Gemenebest der Bahamas de hernieuwde verzekering van haar zeer bijzondere hoogachting te geven.

Het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken van het Gemenebest der Bahamas biedt de Ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden zijn complimenten aan en heeft de eer de ontvangst te bevestigen van de Nota van de Ambassade No. 700 van 28 maart 1989, welke als volgt luidt:

In antwoord heeft het Ministerie de eer de Ambassade mede te delen dat de Regering van het Gemenebest der Bahamas het voorstel van de Regering van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, zoals vastgelegd in de Nota van de Ambassade, aanvaardt.

Het Ministerie heeft voorts de eer de Ambassade mede te delen dat de Nota van de Ambassade en deze Nota een hiertoe strekkende overeenkomst zullen vormen tussen de Regering van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden en de Regering van het Gemenebest der Bahamas, welke, wat betreft het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden uitsluitend geldt voor de Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba en welke in werking zal treden op de datum waarop beide Regeringen elkaar schriftelijk in kennis hebben gesteld dat de daarvoor constitutioneel vereiste procedures in hun onderscheiden landen zijn vervuld.
