On the invitation of the European Council for Nuclear Research established by the
Agreement of the fifteenth of February, 1952, constituting a Council of Representatives
of European States for planning an international laboratory and organizing other forms
of co-operation in nuclear research, a Conference was held at Paris on the first of
July, 1953, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which representatives of the following
States took part:
Belgium, Denmark, France, German Federal Republic, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway,
Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Yugoslavia.
The Conference invited Mr. J. H. Bannier, delegate of the Netherlands, to act as Chairman.
The Conference, having taken into consideration the Report presented by the European
Council for Nuclear Research made pursuant to section 2 of Article III of the Agreement
of the fifteenth of February, 1952, approved the text of the Convention for the establishment
of a European Organization for Nuclear Research, and of the Financial Protocol annexed
thereto.
The Convention and the annexed Financial Protocol, which is an integral part thereof,
are open for signature from the first of July, 1953, to the thirty-first of December,
1953, at the seat of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
at Paris.
