The Royal Netherlands Embassy at Rome presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta and has the honour to propose that the application of the European Convention on Extradition (Paris, 13 December 1957) in accordance with Article 27, paragraph 4, be extended to the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, that the declarations and reservations that apply in relations between the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in respect of the Kingdom in Europe and Malta, shall also apply in relations between Malta and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in respect of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

If this proposal is acceptable to the Government of the Republic of Malta the Embassy has the honour further to propose that this Note and the Ministry's affirmative reply, shall constitute an arrangement as provided for in article 27, paragraph 4, of the Convention, which shall enter into force on the first day of the third month following the date on which the Embassy receives the Ministry's reply.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the assurances of its highest consideration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Environment presents its compliments to the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Rome and has the honour to refer to your Note Verbale dated 31st December, 19961 (No. CZ/ROM-926) regarding the extension of the application of the European Convention on Extradition (Paris, 13th December, 1957) to the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

The proposal referred to in the Note Verbale is acceptable to the Government of the Republic of Malta on the understanding that either of the Contracting Parties may denounce this arrangement by giving notice thereof to the other Party. Such denunciation shall take effect six months after the date when the other Party receives the notification.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Environment avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Royal Netherlands Embassy the assurances of its highest consideration.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy at Rome presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta and has the honour to refer to the Ministry's Note Verbale, No. 369/97, of 2nd April 1997, regarding the Netherlands proposal concerning the extension of the application of the European Convention on Extradition (Paris, 13 December 1957) to the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

The proposal of the Government of the Republic of Malta that either of the Contracting Parties may denounce the arrangement by giving notice thereof to the other Party and that such denunciation shall take effect six months after the date on which the other Party receives the notification is acceptable to the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
