EMBASSY OF INDIA
The Hague
No. HAG/428/2/67
The Embassy of India presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has the honour, with reference to the recent conversations
on the subject between the Embassy and the Ministry, to inform the latter that the
Indian Government considers that the Treaty between the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Ireland and the Kingdom of the Netherlands for the mutual surrender of fugitive
criminals, signed in London on September 26, 1898, which Treaty created certain rights
and obligations for India at a time when it was a territory under the sovereign jurisdiction
of the United Kingdom, has continued without interruption to be binding upon India
and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
It would be appreciated if the Ministry would confirm that the foregoing is the understanding
of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Embassy of India avails itself of the opportunity to renew to the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs the assurances of its highest consideration.
August 6, 1971.

Government of the Netherlands,
