Nr. I. (Nota van de Ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden gericht aan het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken te Wellington)

No 3841

The Royal Netherlands Embassy presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has the honour, with reference to the recent discussions between the Embassy and the Ministry, to inform the latter that the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands considers that the Treaty between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the Kingdom of the Netherlands for the mutual surrender of fugitive criminals, signed in London on September 26, 1898, which Treaty created certain rights and obligations for New Zealand at a time when it was a territory under the sovereign jurisdiction of the United Kingdom, has continued without interruption to be binding upon New Zealand and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

It would be appreciated if the Ministry would confirm that the foregoing is the understanding of the Government of New Zealand.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the assurances of its highest consideration.
